What's New On Instagram

You know what they say… social media is always changing. The last few months have brought several updates to Instagram—many of which are great for businesses, creators, and entrepreneurs. So ICYMI, here’s what’s new!

Link Stickers: This was the big one! Before, you only had access to link sharing on Instagram Stories if you had over 10,000 followers. Now, Instagram has removed the limitation so that all accounts have access to the link sticker! It’s perfect for sharing blogs, new products, and so much more! We expect to see big bumps in website traffic due to this change.

Instagram Video: IGTV used to have a separate tab on your profile, but now all videos (feed + IGTV) have been merged into one section—Instagram video. With this change, each user will have a video tab on their profiles to make all video content easier to search through and discover.

Reels Covers: You may have noticed that if you posted a Reel and forgot to add a cover, you were out of luck—the only way to add the cover was to delete and repost, which is not great for engagement! The good news is that now you can add a cover to a Reel after posting, which will make the look and feel of your feed easier to maintain.

Prompt Stickers: This collaborative sticker train is a great tool for engagement. Simply come up with a prompt (like ‘desk coffee’), then share a photo. Others will be able to add their photo to the prompt on their own stories, and viewers who tap the sticker can see all the photos that have been posted. This is an especially great tool for businesses to get customers to share fun product photos!

Chronological Feed: Users who miss “the old Instagram” rejoice! Instagram is slowly rolling out the option to return your feed to chronological order. This means that fewer people may miss out on seeing your posts!

These changes are great for businesses, and even more new changes are on the way! If you need help staying in the loop with the latest updates, reach out! We’d love to help you stay on top of the social trends.
