The Perfect Instagram Bio

2 seconds. That’s how long you have to capture someone’s attention when they look at your Instagram profile. With such a short timeframe, it’s important to make a good first impression. That means your bio needs to be clear and show your value. Here’s our 5 tips for the perfect Instagram bio:

Answer the question “what do you do?

When someone visits your profile, it should be obvious what your business does. You would think this is common sense, but many people aren’t specific about what they do! Be detailed—“accounting for creatives” or “Nashville bakery” lets the Instagram audience know exactly what to expect from you and if you can help them!

Show your personality

Your bio doesn’t have to be stuffy. Have some fun with it! Write it casually, like you would talk to a friend. Using relevant emojis can be eye-catching while also giving you an extra opportunity to introduce your personality.

Include keywords

Instagram has been rolling out more searchability, which is great for businesses. Think about the words your ideal customer would be searching for, and include those words in your bio. Including your location is also an important keyword to include.

Utilize your bio link

You can only have one link in your bio, so put it to good use and make a landing page! If you aren’t savvy enough to create one on your website, you can easily design one on Canva, Milkshake, or Linktree. This allows you to link to your website, freebies, news, podcast episodes, or anything else that’s important to your business—all in one place!

Add contact info

The most frustrating thing for a customer is when they can’t figure out where to find you or how to get in touch. If your business has a permanent location, include the address. Link your phone number or email address directly in Instagram to make it easy for customers to reach out to you. You want to make communication as easy as possible for them!
