Keeping your LinkedIn up-to-date isn’t just for fun. It’s a great tool for selling, whether you’re selling a product, a service, or yourself. Building out your personal brand can help you make connections in your industry, find new clients, or discover potential hires.
The How
There are three simple steps you can take to immediately upgrade your LinkedIn page:
ONE
Audit your own profile and see what’s missing. Do you have a professional looking photo? Is all of your job experience listed? Have you linked to your website, blog, or projects? If not, now is the time to complete all the missing information in your profile. Think of your LinkedIn page as an expanded resume, and make sure all the gaps are filled in.
TWO
Look through your current connections. Do you regularly engage with them? Have you lost touch with old coworkers? You never know where your next lead might come from, so take the time to cultivate (or re-cultivate) the relationships you already have on LinkedIn.
THREE
Make connections! Make a list of people you would like to connect with, then send them an invitation. Don’t wait for someone else to start the conversation—you are your best advocate!
